come together and they give us perfection!

Summer and salads, with vegetables, picked at the perfect moment we need them, that is what makes a perfect salad!

Not everyone has a garden which is the ideal way, but we make the best of the situation.

We look and see if there are any local farmers markets and we visit them, they are bursting with seasonal products, and it is a celebration, the land celebrates a job well done with the different colors, textures, and flavors, it’s like it’s saying to us, I am strong and no matter what you do to me I will still feed you and provide for you….You are not kind to me but I have staying power and I care for you…

Unconditional Love!

I like to pick the gifts of the land myself and I am fortunate to have a farm very close to my house, what a delightful time I enjoy!

I want you to know the secrets for the best Greek tomato salad.

Here they are!

Homemade tomato soup with garden fresh tomatoes

A seasonal treat

I love tomato soup, but it has to be homemade!

Very easy to make, especially when they are in season, ripe and juicy, right from the garden!

If you don’t have a garden look for a farm nearby, or ever a little further out in the country, it’s a great outdoor activity to do on a beautiful day with the family!

Don’t forget to touch base from time to time with the soil and get dirty, it is healthy and fun! The kids will love the experience and they will pick vegetables right from the plant and taste and feel the difference, pure pleasure! And an education, they will get to see the place of birth of the glorious tomato!

Here is my recipe for the tomato soup!

We actually need a few recipes that are fast and at the same time different when we entertain, and Saganaki with Shrimp and Feta is exactly that!

Use good wine and Greek feta if you like perfection!

Little things make the difference and if you want to get the best results don’t substitute ingredients!

People very often wonder why the taste of food in Greece is way better than other places!

This is a major factor if you want to have authentic Greek taste, use authentic products! And don’t forget the olive oil, make sure it’s Greek!

Oregano-Litsa!

Written by Litsa Bolontzakis. Posted in Miscellaneous, My thoughts

Oregano is an important culinary herb. It is particularly widely used in Greek and Italian cuisines. It is the leaves that are used in cooking, and the dried herb is often more flavourful than the fresh.I love dry Oregano, especially when I rub it together in my hands to release the aroma, delicious!
