Giagias recipes-Litsa!

Everybody remembers fondly their grandmother and the delicious food she used to make! My giagia and her recipes I will never forget!

Her food was magical, she made wonderful food with so much less than what we have today!

Seasonal was the food she was making! And the aromas permeating the house and the neighborhood was something to experience!

When we cook today we have the world on our feet, with ingredients that we never knew existed, we have the option to create delicious food from every part of this amazing planet!

The seasons don’t matter so much, there is always summer somewhere, and the planet is not so big anymore, so if we want summer fruits and vegetables no worries we have them, they come to us all rapt up and ready to be enjoyed! And of course we have Google, any questions, no problem they will be answered!

Coming back to grandmothers or Giagia or Grandmama, or Oma!

Are you one of these fortunate people? Is your Giagia still alive?

If you answer yes, I am so happy for you, you still have time to enjoy her and her gifts!

They never ask for too much, they know how busy we are and they never interfere! That is how my grandmothers were, always to give and never ask anything in return!

But there is a danger here, we tent to forget them. This is such a big mistake! We are under the impression that they are invisible!

Don’t take it for granted that she will be here with you forever!

They are very close to the end if they are grandmothers! That is a very sad thing but nevertheless true!

Every day counts!

Do yourself a favor, get your tablet, and go visit this precious person!

Ask her to make some coffee and have a nice conversation with a person with experience!

Ask her about her life, you will be so surprised with the things she is going to share, and the things she went through! And if she was a good cook ask her to tell you her little secrets, and what made her recipes so delicious! She will probably say, love and time!

Tell her about the special recipe, the one you love, the one you never have enough of, ask her what is her secret ingredient and see her face light up, and if you have the time, ask her to cook with you so you can have something personal from your grandmother, her recipe to use with your family and this way they will remember her for a long time!

The next step will be for you to go shopping so you can make the meal together! She is on a fixed income after all. Document the whole adventure, in the future you will be so happy you did!

Don’t forget to praise her and thank her for just been your grandmother!

One thing you should have in mind, never go to see your grandma empty-handed, by now you should know what she likes and always bring it to her, little things make her happy at this point, to see you and talk with you been at the top of the list!

Giagias recipes are done with Patience! Giagias recipes are done with Love!

Have a nice visit!

“Summer the Magic Blanket” a book By Litsa Bolontzakis

‘Summer the magic blanket. My book about the Seasons! I feel that it speaks ions about guiding children to love themselves and experience the wonder of nature as it unfolds.

Sometimes it can be the little things which can bring the most happiness! Children are so innocent that anything can bring a smile to their faces and it doesn’t need to be something particularly special. I feel adults have forgotten the hidden joy of finding wonderment in the simpler aspects of life the way children do.

The love of reading is the best gift that can be bestowed upon a young child. It enables them to travel to different places and meet astounding people through the narratives. Can you imagine that tinkle in their eyes filled with dreams when you see them reading a book? I have seen people making the mistake of thinking children have no personalities of their own and will simply obey and function like robots.

My lovely eight-year granddaughter is a perfect example! When she is weary from the day she does things which she is not supposed to do and can work up quite a temper. As parents, it is our job to feel them, and make them comfortable, also to allow enough leisure time during the day for that purpose.

Adults think that only they get stressed about life and need a break. Children can very much need a break too! The problem is that children can often not tell the difference between a calm state of mind and one that is over stimulated; we must step in to maintain the balance. This will allow the children to recover from mental and physical strain and also affect their behavior positively.

Think about the things you wanted when you were a kid. Is it not normal for your child who has been awake since the crack of dawn to want attention and rest? Welcome them with open arms when they return home and give them their favorite thing to eat and a thought-provoking book to engage their minds. They’ll love you all the more for it!

There is no magic, other than the magic we create ourselves by having a great time enjoying life, a beautifully uncomplicated life.

Summer the Magic blanket a book they will love!A little blanket that made it possible for Evangelia to dream and fly away like a butterfly!

Our children deserve just that!

Love,

Litsa!

Ideas for Children’s Books –It’s Easier Than You Think! LitsaB!

Ideas for children’s books come easy when you have a starting point.

So many children’s books are written every year, and publishers have a hard time deciding what to choose unless they come across a subject that really wows them. We have to consider what kinds of stories children like – they like stories about children just like them, they love stories about animals, and they want stories that have love, joy, security, and happy endings.
