A very Greek way to enjoy Lamb
A traditional Sunday meal.
Lamb, the meat enjoyed by Greek people as long as there are Greek people on this planet and that is a very long time….
So many ways to enjoy Lamb and this is one of our favorite ways…A meal in a pan, and OH so good!
Easy as pie, but then again it’s very hard to make a pie, but very easy to make Lamb with potatoes.

- 1 leg of lamb (approx 1 1/2 kg or 3 lbs)
- 4 cloves garlic
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1/2 cup olive oil 1 lemon the juice
- 2 tbsp mustard
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 10 potatoes, cut in thick wedges
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup hard cheese, Kefalotiri, cut in cubes
Season leg of lamb with salt, pepper and garlic powder, be generous!
Place in a deep ovenproof pan and broil to seal the juices (turning once).
Peel and wash potatoes, cut them in wedges.Place them in a large bowl.
Combine the rest of the ingredients and pour over potatoes.
Place potatoes nicely all around the lamb
Add olive oil, lemon juice, and water.
Cover and cook for 1 1/2 – 2 hours in medium to high heat.350-375
The Leg of Lamb has a little fat all around, don’t remove it, it helps the meat remain nice and juicy.
One very important detail about Greek cooking, meat has to be well cooked with no traces of pink.
A nice Greek salad is great with Lamb!

Traveling to the Greek islands in the Spring is something I enjoy so very much. The land is so amazingly beautiful and fresh, the fields are blossoming with all kinds of wildflowers, poppies are in full bloom, and the fields look like a colorful carpet.

In Embona, you have to taste the spring lamb and this is what we had, roasted spring lamb the old fashion way very simple, very delicious very easy to prepare and here is my version of spring lamb.
