We look and see if there are any local farmers markets and we visit them, they are bursting with seasonal products, and it is a celebration, the land celebrates a job well done with the different colors, textures, and flavors, it’s like it’s saying to us, I am strong and no matter what you do to me I will still feed you and provide for you….You are not kind to me but I have staying power and I care for you…
I like to pick the gifts of the land myself and I am fortunate to have a farm very close to my house, what a delightful time I enjoy!
I want you to know the secrets for the best Greek tomato salad.
Here they are!
- 3 large tomatoes
- 1 large English cucumber
- 1 large onion
- Olive oil, salt, and oregano
- Greek Feta cheese as much as you like
- Kalamata olives as many as you like
Tomatoes have to be ripe and plump at room temperature for the perfect Greek salad!
Oil has to be good Greek olive oil.
Feta has to be nice and Greek, no substitutions will do.
Oregano Greek also and I am not funny…That is if you want an authentic Greek salad
Cut your tomatoes and cucumber, and place them on a beautiful platter.
Add the onion in roundels.
Season your salad with just a little salt.
Add the feta, olives, oregano and oil
Your Greek tomato salad is so ready to be enjoyed with nice bread!
P.S. If you like you can use a little red wine vinegar, I also love capers with my Greek tomato Salad!
